Exhibition in the Galerie Bilder Fuchs (04.–14.09.2024)

The Viamala exhibition at Galerie Bilder Fuchs in Fulda presents a selection of eleven works from the "Zyklus im Blau" ("Cycle in Blue") in its first-ever photographic exhibition. The large-format images in white and blue form a cohesive group of works that impressively capture the rugged, mystical landscape of the Swiss region.

Graubünden Classic

In a special project, the Kammerphilharmonie Graubünden merged Michael Gutsche's landscape photographs with a symphonic performance. The large-format images of the unspoiled mountain scenery of Graubünden entered into dialogue with works by composers such as Franz Liszt and Gion Antoni Derungs.

Under the direction of conductor Philippe Bach, photography and music were masterfully combined, bring the alpine landscape to life visually and acoustically.

Video animation to the music of Carter Larsen

American composer Carter Larsen drew inspiration from the mountains of Graubünden for his "Cosmos Symphonic Suite." When I was working on the project "VIAMALA - Cycle in Blue" and happened to meet Carter Larsen in the mountains of Graubünden, we both quickly realized that our work was fed by the same source of inspiration and that this circumstance called for an audiovisual performance of his 4th symphony.

Permanent exhibition at the Alfred Wegener Institute (since 2021)

In April 2021, the Alfred Wegener Institute (AWI) in Bremerhaven received the works "Polarstern" and "Arktischer Sturm" ("Arctic Storm") from the series "On Thin Ice" for permanent exhibition.

The AWI played a leading role in the organisation and management of the MOSAiC expedition - the largest Arctic expedition to date and also the most extensive research project in the institute's history.

wired: exhibition at the Museum for Communication (2014, 2018)

Wire is the companion of modern telecommunications and thus also of the digital world. It keeps us connected anytime, anywhere. A mobile freedom that also forces us to be constantly available. The works of Joanna Skurska and Michael Gutsche explore this tension between freedom and confinement. The exhibition features clothing objects made of copper wire by the Polish artist and large-format images by the Fulda-based photographer.
